Out of all the Fall 2011 Couture shows, Elie Saab's flowing, beautifully-crafted dresses caught my eye through the pages of style.com. In a recent interview with Instyle UK, the designer said, "I believe that I was born with this passion of creating and making dresses." The passion Elie Saab holds is evident in every single dress the designer created. Has art ever literally stunned you? Has a runway look ever stopped you in your tracks? I think that such beauty can provoke such emotion for those who have a passion for it. Elie Saab is a designer, who, with his large passion for creating beauty, causes his audience to feel passion for his beauty.
The designer's Fall 2011 collection is the epitome of couture. A collection made up entirely of maxi dresses, held a fairy-tale type of quality. Upon viewing them, you don't see gorgeous models on a runway-you feel as if you are watching princesses striding down the hallowed halls of a palace. Each dress shined, flowing behind every model, covered in sparkling sequins. Embroidered trims, silk pleats, colored drapes, elegant slits, and intricate belts created a bubble of allure, one that pulls you in and doesn't let go. (In this case, it means I can't stop glancing back at Elie's dresses.) Looking through the collection was a vicarious thrill-hopefully, one day I can watch an Elie Saab Couture show through my own eyes, just as the models flow down the runway.
