SEPTEMBER.

Aug 10, 2012

My favorite month of the year: September. Always has been, always will be. When I was younger, the month appealed to me because it brought on my birthday (September 27) and the beginning of a new school year. Now, as the years go by and my affiliation with fashion increases, September marks the start of a new season. Racks and racks of dresses and skirts fill into high-street and luxury stores across the world, while bookstores welcome the September Issues into neatly organized stands. My own desk is piling up with glossy magazines, a new issue arriving everyday in my mailbox or from the local bookstore. Like the entire fashion world, and (I am assuming) other fashion enthusiasts, I wait with bated breath for one issue in particular: American Vogue's September Issue. And, finally, the issue has made its way into websites, newsstands, and blogs all across the world.
The issue has received mixed reviews so far, and I am deeply caught between fixed opinions. The cover is certainly not what I expected, which is a reason to love it. US Vogue can be somewhat predictable, which is a despite their wonderful cover stars and covers every month. The magazine sticks to close-up shots of actresses, and seldom displays a full-body photograph on their cover. I am delighted to see how unique the cover is and how different it is from Vogue's usual covers. The cover is very Lady Gaga, with quirky hair and a brilliant purple dress. The cover is a refreshing alternative, and admittedly, quite impressive. The aspect to the magazine which I am most anticipated is its size: 916 pages of pure fashion. The issue is Vogue's largest yet, breaking the record from its 2007 issue. (Which was so incredibly famous that a whole documentary was dedicated to it!) I can't wait to spend hours savoring every detail of the gorgeous editorials and fashion features that the magazine is sure to have in store.
Below, I have included my other favorite September Issue covers, from Harper's Bazaar UK's stunning Keira Knightley issue to Elle US's (slightly tacky) Katy Perry cover. Which one is your favorite? Vote in the poll below!

  4. I'm so glad to see the UK Harper's Bazaar cover of Keira Knightly's on your favorite's list! I absolutely love that cover, it's one of the most intriguing and beautiful covers I've ever beheld in my life.

The Teen Vogue cover of Selena Gomez is a close second, though! Can't wait to get my hands on that issue!

  7. To be brutally honest, I didn't like US Vogue's cover at all, but maybe that's just because I have an inherent dislike for all things Gaga. That being said, Teen Vogue and Bazaar UK have DEFINITELY won me over, no doubt. :) There's a new giveaway open on my blog in honor of Seven Inch Stilettos reaching 600 followers, so feel free stop by and enter if you'd like to win a care pack filled with my favourite beauty goodies!

  9. Oh, I LOVE Harper's Bazaar UK's cover. Keira Knightley looks amazing and so bold, with her blood red lips. Dark and mysterious - I'm such a fan. I really don't like Katy Perry's cover- they could have done so much more with that. The US's Harper's Bazaar looks cool, and so does Glamour.

I've always liked September because it really marks the start of fall for me, and that's just the loveliest season. ^^ Great post!
