Lights gleam on the runways of New York City. Models strut down the runway in precisely stitched clothes. The front row is bursting with A-list celebrities, fashion editors, and socialites, while bloggers from across the world are covering the shows daily. And me? I am thoroughly enjoying the vicarious thrill of watching the live streams of each show and examining every collection with great intensity on style.com.
Most collections haven't been released as of now, but among the few I have seen, Thakoon Addition's looks are the ones that have impressed me the most. Diffusion lines have always fascinated me - from Victoria Beckham's fabulous Victoria collection to Jason's Wu's upcoming line for Nordstrom. (Is anyone else as ridiculously excited as me for Wu's new, lower-priced line?) Thakoon Panichgul's Thakoon Addition collection is no exception. Panichgul has always been a covetable designer, with clothes which never fail to amuse and impress. I am throughly anticipating the release of his main line's Spring/Summer 2013 collection, but Thakoon Addition is beautiful enough to keep me occupied until then.
At first glance, the photography which captures each ensemble is what will grab your attention. Each photo holds a tight grasp on the essence of Thakoon's clothing: light, free, and young. Model Laura Love's stunning, gamine charm is cooly evident in each picture. Those blue eyes and beautifully unruly hair makes Love the ideal model for such a collection. The light in each photograph seizes the allure Thakoon has concocted with each outfit. Now, onto the clothes...on the whole, it seems as if Thakoon has delivered an easily-chic set of clothes, with a perfect set of details that will make any girl snap out her credit card in an instant. Chambray fabric, cut-out designs, and cozy sweaters make up the bulk of the collection. Soft, feminine hues - peach, white, grey, and baby-blue - add to the looks' sweet, teenage-girl feel. Out of every detail, I adore the peter-pan collars and delicate pink stripes the most. A variety of silhouettes and styles make an appearance, from maxi dresses (check out the gorgeous peach dress with knife pleats below!) and balloon skirts to oversize shorts. And of course, those adorable floral prints which are never absent from Spring runways are covering tights, shorts, and tops galore. Very few collections have released so far, but from what I have seen of Thakoon Addition, I am positive Spring 2013 fashion is going to dazzle us all this season. If Thakoon Addition's collection is this delightful, how gorgeous will Thakoon's main line be?
