Inspired by "a girl's journey through the different stages of life", designer Prabal Gurung created an exclusive for mass-retailer, Target. The collection, which is launching in early February, is just in time for Valentine's Day and can be worn for occasions such as "the initial first crush all the way to the engagement", says the designer. With a medley of neon shades, florals, and Gurung's signature take on chic sportswear, the collection is sure to be a sell out. The best part? Affordable Target prices combined with beautiful designer wear! Of this the designer explains, "I worked closely with Target to design a collection inspired by romance that is also affordable – the experience was incredible to say the least."
The colors that Gurung chose to incorporate into his collections were fabulous – each hue is bold and eye-catching. Smooth yellow tones, bold reds, and electric blues were among the many shades that were so skillfully used. My favorite items for Valentine's Day would have to be the daring red dresses above. The shade may be slightly clichéd for this particular occasion, but the pieces are gorgeous nonetheless.
The accessories are the perfect compliment to each ensemble Gurung concocted. Slim, sleek stilettos in neon yellow and audacious red shades looked gorgeous in the lookbook above. Flirty floral prints and plenty of peplum were wonderful additions to the collection. The dress above, in the middle, features a particularly unique print, worthy of any Mary Katranzou collection.
Finally, one of the most amazing colors in the entire collection was the shades of blue. From the stunning leather jacket on the right to the color-blocked dress on the left, the use of blue was very well executed. Gurung's tradition to put a spin on sporty pieces came into play here, with the cut and overall feel of these ensembles. For a unique Valentine's Day outfit, any girl would opt for these covetable pieces. To end this post, this quote from Prabal Gurung himself says it all: "I am a romantic at heart and truly believe in love."
