Yellow taxis, the beaming lights of Times Square, an American flag, sparkling traffic lights, a cup of coffee, a skateboard and dozens of people in the background: all elements of a setting that could only be described with three words – New York City. In DKNY's Fall 2013 campaign, the brand which is synonymous with the electric vibe of the greatest city on earth, found yet another way to capture New York's magic. Any campaign or editorial shot in the city would hold some sort of beauty, but DKNY takes its campaign a step further by placing the it-girl of the moment, Cara Delevingne in its photographs. Cara's unstoppable charm has won the attention of pretty much everyone, from fashion editors to fashion-obsessed fans. London's most-loved model at this time is a perfect fit for the campaign, and blends into a New York City lifestyle effortlessly, throughout the photographs. So, with the power of Cara and the charisma of New York, DKNY concocted their Fall 2013 campaign in the best way they could have. Add in seriously covetable clothing – from artistic, edgy designs that reflect the city's desirable art scene to elegant wear appropriate for the corporate princess, DKNY had the fashion covered. Glossy maroon handbags, sleek black pumps, and a color palette of apple-red, neutral brown and primary blue added to the ambiance. In terms of setting, taxi cabs dominated the photos, which was something I truly appreciated. From a New-Yorker's perspective, transportation is something which has an importance that nothing else does: getting from place to place is key on an everyday basis. In this way, DKNY intertwined a part of daily life, lacing it together with luxury fashion that the brand creates. Everything Donna Karan New York does is somewhat of a tribute to New York City. Just as the brand creates clothing to praise this beautiful city, this post has been created to do the same thing: display New York's elegance, allure, and ability to make anyone from anywhere fall in love with it.
