summer blues.

Top and Sunglasses: H&M, Skirt: Hollister, Bag: Zara, Bracelet: Kate Spade,

On an afternoon when we were blessed with some rare sunlight, Katya and I set out to shoot a series of outfits. The immensely talented, not to mention young, photographer has been a good friend of mine ever since we worked together last year. I always enjoy catching up with her during my annual trips to London – grabbing a cup of coffee, walking around the city she is lucky enough to call home, and taking a few shots in between it all. As the weather became increasingly warmer, we captured this distinctly-summery ensemble, seeping of Bohemian undertones and a high-street aura. The setting, as I talked about in my London Photo Diary post (which you can see here), was in Regents Park. We explored the picturesque park, dotted with dozens of tourists and families picnicking at the pond. It is sometimes difficult to find the perfect location for a photograph – one that coincides with the ideal lighting. With some perseverance – and a lot of walking – we were able to do so. Constant greenery, speckles of orange sunlight, and an ambiance that declares summer, this one of my most memorable shoots by far.

The printed skirt, as I mentioned before, had a certain bohemian air which surprisingly, is a product of Hollister & Co. The brand usually has less of the 'independent, free spirit' air that others like Wildfox or Free People do, but their concoctions this season seem to have just that. I picked up this skirt, as well as a few other gorgeous creations,  at their Regent Street outlet. Intricate shades of blue and a pattern reminiscent of Aztec influences has made this skirt a favorite. A delicate drawstring with tassels completed the item, and a flowing silhouette was its shining factor. To draw little attention away from the skirt, I turned to a new basic – tube tops from the always-dependable H&M. In keeping with this blue theme, the navy-blue top was ideal. Accessories, of course, were needed to complete this look – Zara's stunning box-shaped crossbody, with its skillful gold details, did the trick – and was a perfect combination with the subtle white-gold bracelet from Kate Spade. While London style often dictates for a more refined take on fashion, summer calls for freedom and color – which was achieved both through the outfit and through this wonderful shoot. Thank you Katya Brigette Photography for such a lovely time!
