winter transitions | modcloth edition.

Jan 15, 2015

The magic of winter comes in many forms, but for those inclined towards fashion, the cold weather means that it is the season to practice the art of layering. Knitted and woolen scarfs, gorgeous cardigans (check out Modcloth's collection here!), and fur-lined pullovers are some of the many items used to layer. While it is practical and sometime necessary in cold weather (something we wouldn't quite understand here in Singapore), layering is also an opportunity to enhance any look. With this idea in mind, Modcloth has asked a panel of bloggers to deliver their take on winter layering, and the transition from fall to winter – one that can be tough to style. Simplistic, sophisticated yet with an edgy indie touch, Modcloth has created quite a name for itself in the fashion world. Described by the company as, 'distinctively darling' – a term that is refreshingly accurate – Modcloth is the go-to brand for easy winterwear.

So my look would lean a little more toward the mid-Fall weather range, with a military-style dress and ankle boots. This look incorporates layering, yet allows for some seasonal transitions; the kind of look which would work in sunny Singapore or wintery London. The olive green dress above has a beautifully-fitting silhouette, with a light flair to the bottom. The fabric allows for a bit of warmth in cold weather, but the scarf and coat are the perfect additions to contribute to the ensemble. The similarly-colored scarf can be draped around the neck in a multitude of styles, and keeps in line with the uniformity of the look. For the true winter-factor, we can turn to Modcloth's chic, monochrome trench coat, reminiscent of those seen on many a runway. The subtle cut and adornments down the middle give the coat a fabulous edge, as Modcloth is so known for. Finally, the accessories uplift the subdued color palette. By turning to mauve and wine-esque hues, the stunning ankle boots (definitely on my wishlist) and adorable leather bag give the look a perfect dash of color. Layering has never been this easily attained – and all from one gorgeous brand.

What do you think of this look?
