high-street monochrome.

Top: H&M, Skirt: Style Dasher, Boots: Steve Madden, Clutch: Kate Spade

In my latest photo session, which was a little over a month ago, I had the pleasure of exploring Singapore's gorgeous Central Business District. This was my second set of photos from my shoot with Irina (you can see the previous post here) and we couldn't have picked a better location. The Fullerton Hotel sits right behind, and Singapore's quaint museums are dotted around the area. Just like Tiong Bahru, which I described in this detailed post, CBD is worlds apart from Orchard Road. While populated on the weekends and at rush hour, there are always some tranquil, picturesque places to explore. The shophouse-esque backdrop was the perfect contrast to my monochrome outfit – one that I have been so excited to share! Irina did a wonderful job finding a spot to shoot, which enhanced the outfit I already adored so much.

For this look, I turned to high-street brands we are all familiar with – in particular, Steve Madden and H&M. The patterned crop-top is varied with a dizzying set of stripes, in shades of black and white. What was most lovely about this top, though, is the silhouette. The tweed contributed to a structured look, and a high-neck. It is the perfect combination for a slightly high-waisted skirt – with just a bit of midriff. Styledasher, a local Singapore brand, provided the best option. The label is the balance between sleek femininity and edgy minimalism.  I picked up this skort at their store in Scape a few months ago. Again, I fell in love with the structured look – and pure white color – immediately. The beautiful tailoring and hemline was an addition pro. It has to be my favorite part of this outfit, by far. To add a little color, I turned to my favorite Kate Spade clutch (and everyday wallet). While yellow is usually not a staple in my closet, the wallet is a bright addition to any monochrome outfit like this one. To top off the look, Steve Madden's gorgeous, small-heeled boots solidified the city vibe this look gives off. What do you think of this look? Let me know through Twitter or Instagram!
